The outside mounting design provides maximum free air space and a better draft while the durable stainless steel finish helps it stand up to the elements. This Shelter cap is designed with a 24 ga stainless steel hood with scalloped corners, an 18 ga 3/4 in expanded stainless steel mesh and a 16 ga stainless steel base for added strength. It installs easily with slotted hex-head mounting bolts. An optional heavy-duty stainless steel leg kit is available for use when the flue tile does not extend above the chimney crown.
